I would not recommend a Humana policy regardless of the broker compensation. Humana has an ugly history and a recent one at that. In 2003 Dr. Linda Peeno resigned from her position as "Medical Director" for Humana insurance company after the board of directors forced her to decline a life saving heart transplant because they said it was "not covered". An independent investigation completed after the Humana insured member died from the lack of this life saving heart transplant proved that indeed the treatment WAS a covered expense but Humana denied it specifically because it cost $500,000. Worse yet, several months after this denial, Humana bought a Marble statue to put in their foyer that cost roughly the same amount. Suffice it to say, I hold no contract with Humana and never will and would never recommend any product this company offers. The movie that was made regarding this whole debacle was called "Damaged Care" starring Laura Dern (the tall blonde from Jurassic Park fame) as Dr. Linda Peeno. Dr. Peeno still speaks out today against the dangers of Humana & Managed Care in general and she was most recently featured in Michael Moore's movie "Sicko". The movie showed the testimony she gave (in part) to the Supreme Court about what took place at Humana and how manged care is an outright danger to all insured's.
